Everything is Scary

A Better Bad Place

Be Scared of Everything is Available Now

Dear Everything is Scary readers,

I don’t have data on how many of you are regulars here, but I do know you’re still visiting, and some dark souls have even reached out to me through the website contact email inquiring about the long hiatus this humble horror blog has been on, so I wanted to give an update on what’s happening (or not happening) behind the scenes here in the deep, dark abyss. The reason posts have been so few and far between is because, for the past two-and-a-half years, I’ve been writing a collection of essays on horror, and it is now available at your favourite local book store and directly through my publisher, Invisible Publishing.

Be Scared of Everything is a collection of 29 essays that combine criticism and narrative memoir, exploring everything from Ouija boards, to Cthulhu, to Hannibal Lecter, to chainsaws, to the terrible blue horizon of death that awaits us all. If you enjoy the posts on Everything is Scary, the essays in Be Scared of Everything will hopefully fill the hole in your heart left from years of absence. There’s stuff in here about UFOs, zombies, found footage, ghostbusting, killer sharks, animatronic haunted houses, the band Ghost, and how horror gives us a language for the post-traumatic experience. There’s also an essay on horror in the TV sitcom Frasier.

Now that the book is published, I’ll be returning to this corner of the Internet, and hopefully writing with more regularity. I feel like it’s needed (if for no one else then for me), since never in my life has everything been so scary.

Frightfully yours,

Peter

Darkness follows.
